The story
About this place
Mossfern Lodge sits at the edge of a chestnut forest in southern Tuscany, an hour from the coast and a world away from rush. The main building is a 17th-century stone farmhouse — restored gently, with hand-finished plaster, oak beams, and tall windows that look out into the canopy.
There are four rooms, each with its own small balcony, a wood stove, and a writing desk. Meals are taken together at a long table; mornings are quiet, evenings are warm. There is a small library, a sauna built into the hillside, and a wide meadow for walking.
Guests come here to slow down. Some bring a manuscript. Some sit by the fire for hours. The owners ask only that you arrive with no schedule.

The silence in this forest is something I had forgotten existed. Mornings smelled of woodsmoke and chestnut leaves. I came with a half-written book; I left with it nearly finished.
Stayed five nights, mostly alone with the trees. The owners are warm without being intrusive. The sauna at dusk was small magic.
Beautiful, simple, restorative. The Wi-Fi really is slow — that is the point. Bring a book.
Voices
From those who came through
I came back changed in the way that matters — slowly, quietly.
Travira chose well for me. I trust them now.
The kind of attention to detail you only notice afterwards.

Why slow
Travira makes a small number of offerings, with small groups and long timescales. Slow, for us, is not a marketing word. It is the only honest way we know to do this — to give a thing enough room to change you.
